BELTON, TX-Temple Economic Development Corporation (Temple EDC) was presented one of Belton Independent School District’s (Belton ISD) Community Partners of the Year at Belton ISD’s Celebrate Public Schools Week luncheon held yesterday. Temple EDC was recognized for efforts in promoting Belton ISD’s Career and Technology Education (CTE) program.

In 2013 Temple EDC joined with Belton ISD for a working lunch where local businesses voiced their needs and opportunities to collaborate. Temple EDC and Belton ISD work with area businesses to understand their workforce needs and an advisory board helps guide the direction of the CTE program. Collaboration with local businesses helps to ensure that the CTE program is teaching the techniques that are currently being used in the respective industries.

Temple EDC also joined with district administrators for a joint presentation on business needs and partnerships at the Texas Association of School Administrators/Texas Association of School Boards Convention in Dallas. Most recently, Temple EDC has assisted in launching the Student Workforce Advisory Team to identify ways to support students in launching careers and to connect them with employers. Belton Chamber of Commerce and Belton Economic Development Corporation were also recipients of Belton ISD’s Community Partners of the Year awards.
