With origins dating back to 1872, Academy ISD has grown from a student body of 60 to more than 1,700 and serves students in the city of Little River Academy. In addition to achieving numerous accolades over the years, Academy ISD played a pivotal role in introducing school buses to Texas.
Belton ISD overlaps into the City of Temple on the city’s west and southwest sides. The district serves more than 12,200 students on 16 campuses. In 2017, voters approved a $149.7 million bond program to build two new campuses and complete projects at current facilities to support continued growth in the district.
Currently, Belton ISD offers one traditional high school, one non-traditional high school, three middle schools, nine elementary schools, and one pre-kindergarten campus.
Temple ISD is 6A school district with more than 8,700 students excelling in advanced academics, fine arts, athletics, and career and technical education programs. For more than 15 consecutive years, Temple ISD students have exceeded state and national SAT/ACT averages.
The Temple ISD Board of Trustees was recently named a Region 12 School Board of the Year for its outstanding leadership and dedication to the success of all students. Under board leadership, the district has recently achieved a “B” rating from the Texas Education Agency and maintains graduation and attendance rates of 92 and 96 percent accordingly. This distinction enters the Temple ISD Board of Trustees into the running for the Texas Association of School Administrators Outstanding Board of the Year award.
Located on the I-35 corridor between Temple and Waco, Troy is a growing community that thrives on agriculture and small businesses. The district encompasses four campuses that serve 1,550 students from early childhood education through 12th grade. Troy ISD employs 190 teachers and staff to provide educational excellence.
Temple College is a comprehensive community college with a convenient location. The college offers daytime, evening, and online courses to a diverse student body. Temple College offers courses from accounting to vocational nursing and everything in between, with more than 60 programs of study available to the diverse student body.
Texas A&M University-Central Texas (TAMUCT)
As a member of one of the largest higher education systems in the country, TAMUCT offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees with an emphasis on access and affordability. The university offers 28 bachelor programs and 18 graduate programs in Temple.
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB)
Rooted deep in Texas history, UMHB was chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas and is the oldest continuously operating college in the state. The private university is located a short drive from Temple in Belton and serves nearly 4,000 students annually with an 18:1 student-faculty ratio.
