Success Story

Baylor Scott & White Health

The largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas, and one of the largest in the country, Baylor Scott & White Health established its own logistics and distribution operation in Temple, Texas, to support its healthcare initiatives.

Leveraging low business costs and an unparalleled transportation network, and with ingenuity and efficiency in mind, Baylor Scott & White Health consolidated its massive inventory of medical goods into one distribution center minutes from the Temple Medical and Educational District.

The new $20 million facility, which combined operations from Central and North Texas, was completed in 2016 and ushered in about 40 new jobs.

The placement of this distribution center in Temple is strategic for our entire system.

-Pat Currie, President, Hospital and Clinic Operations, Baylor Scott & White Health

The Baylor Scott & White distribution center capitalizes on two of Temple’s largest strengths – healthcare and logistics and distribution.

More than 40% of Temple’s workforce is employed in Temple’s healthcare sector. The area is the anchor for several health and life sciences facilities and education programs. Among the organizations with a Temple presence are the VA Medical Center, Temple College, McLane Children’s Hospital and the Texas A&M Health Science Center.

Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio—Texas’ largest cities—are all within a three-hour drive of Temple, with six interstates linking Central Texas to the rest of the country and Mexico.
