From Taco Bell to 7-Eleven, a significant amount of the goods supplied to food service outlets is organized out of Temple, Texas.

With corporate headquarters in Temple, McLane Company, Inc. is one of the largest supply chain service providers in the country. McLane furnishes food and beverage products to convenience stores, mass merchants, drug stores and chain restaurants. It operates 80-plus distribution centers, managing 50,000-plus consumer products to nearly 110,000 locations across the U.S.

McLane is a wholly owned unit of Berkshire Hathaway and employs 24,000 teammates.

After increasing its investment in Central Texas with an $11 million expansion at both its North Campus and South Campus in Temple in 2013, McLane brought its total employment in Temple to over 1,000.

From its global headquarters in Temple, the McLane Company operates 80-plus distribution centers that support nearly 110,000 client locations across the U.S.

The Temple EDC and the City of Temple worked with McLane in the pursuit of Texas Enterprise Zone financial incentives. Communities can nominate companies for the program, which may result in state sales and use tax refunds on qualified expenditures.

To help meet growing workforce demands, McLane leveraged Temple College and its commercial driver’s license training. In support of economic development initiatives, Temple College offers five weeks of education and hands-on training to develop certified drivers.

The more than 470 corporate operations in Temple together employ nearly 9,000 people and benefit from Temple’s higher value cost of doing business and young, educated workforce. From 2007 to 2017, business support services employment grew nearly 10% and is expected to grow nearly 14% between 2017 and 2022, outpacing national growth by 4%.
