Community support and reliable, skilled workforce top the list of reasons why Reynolds Consumer Products upped its business investment in Temple, Texas.

Reynolds Consumer Products is a leading provider of household products. Reynolds’ Central Texas roots go back to 1970, when Hefty opened a manufacturing facility in Temple. They retained their presence when the two companies merged in 2010, combining Reynolds’ and Hefty’s strong legacy brands.

In 2018, Reynolds invested another $3.2 million to upgrade equipment for a new plastic film production line at its Temple location. The investment also included the addition of new jobs to Reynolds’ existing workforce of 300.

“The Temple Economic Development Corporation has been a terrific partner in this process. We’re pleased to be able to grow right here in Temple,” said Rick Villa, plant manager for Reynolds.

The company’s expansion received a financial boost in the way of cash grants approved by the Temple EDC Board of Directors. Reynolds also leveraged funds with Texas State Technical College to provide technical and non-technical job training. Through the Skills Development Fund, the Texas Workforce Commission supports customized training solutions to help employers and workers succeed in the marketplace.

Temple’s manufacturing industry is comprised of 130 establishments employing more than 6,500 people. In addition to operating costs 15% lower than the national average, manufacturers in Temple benefit from a young, well-trained workforce fueled by graduates from career and technical education centers and STEM programs at eight regional higher education institutions as well as by soldiers transitioning out of Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored post in the U.S. Armed Services.
