With its thriving economy and business-friendly policies, Temple, Texas benefits from its central location in the best state to do business.

Ranked as the top state to start a business in 2023 by Chief Executive, Texas is well known in the United States for its robust economy. Fueled by diverse industries, such as energy, healthcare, technology, and manufacturing, the state thrives thanks to its favorable tax environment and minimal regulations that provide companies with the ideal landscape to expand. Moreover, Texas’ rapidly growing population continues to offer a vast customer base for businesses to tap into.

Among the cities benefiting from this economic growth is Temple, situated in the heart of Central Texas. Businesses in Temple can leverage the state’s pro-business climate and skilled workforce while enjoying lower costs compared to larger metropolitan areas like Dallas and Austin. The city’s strategic location stands out as one of its significant assets, making the community a hub for Texas-based companies to prosper.

Open for business

The Lone Star State’s business-friendly climate is a magnet for companies seeking to relocate or extend their operations. With no state income tax and one of the lowest overall tax burdens in the nation, Texas offers an attractive proposition for businesses. To further entice companies, the state provides a range of incentives and programs, including the Texas Enterprise Fund, which can make a significant difference in a company’s financial outlook, freeing up resources for growth and innovation.

Several businesses in Temple have capitalized on these incentives. In 2018, East Penn Manufacturing Co., a well-established manufacturer of high-quality lead batteries and accessories, announced its $106 million expansion to Temple. With the help of a $1.4 million grant from the Texas Enterprise Fund, the company generated over 260 jobs in the community.

Shovel-ready land for future growth

Temple’s appeal to businesses is heightened by its abundance of readily available land, capable of accommodating large-scale projects. The 147-acre Temple Industrial Park, equipped with road, water, sewer, and railroad line access, has attracted major corporations like FedEx Ground, which established a 250,000-square-foot distribution center in the area. In 2021, Minnesota-based producer of greenhouse lettuce, Revol Greens, announced plans for a new manufacturing operation in the city, including a 40-acre advanced greenhouse facility — a $110 million investment.

Rowan Green Data, a leading developer and infrastructure provider for hyperscale data centers, has made a substantial commitment of $300 million to build a state-of-the-art data center on a 32-acre site within Temple’s Synergy Park.

More recently, Niagara Bottling — initially established in the city in 2019 — announced an additional $48 million investment to expand its existing facility. The project will include the construction of a new warehouse, creating at least 14 jobs.

With its strategic location, favorable business climate, and ongoing influx of notable companies, Temple stands out as a prime destination for businesses seeking a vibrant and supportive environment.

A logistical sweet spot

Temple’s strategic location at the crossroads of I-35 and the planned I-14 positions it as one of Texas’ most accessible communities. The city enjoys convenient access to major metros such as Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, all within a few hours’ drive. Moreover, six interstates connect Central Texas to the rest of the country and Mexico, offering unparalleled accessibility for businesses.

Temple offers the ideal location for companies looking to expand their logistics and distribution capabilities. Back in 2016, Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH), the largest healthcare system in Texas, recognized the city’s potential for establishing an efficient logistics and distribution operation, consolidating its inventory of medical goods into a $20 million distribution center near the Temple Medical and Educational District (TMED).

With its thriving economy and business-friendly policies, Texas provides an exceptional environment for companies to prosper and expand. As the heart of Central Texas, Temple’s strategic location, access to a growing customer base and acres of shovel-ready land help the city stand out as an enticing prospect for businesses.
